VOCEC is a non-profit corporation, established to create and provide employment. The corporation is run by a community volunteer Board of Directors responsible for overseeing social enterprise businesses in the Kingston Area.

The corporation is a member of Kingston Chamber of Commerce and achieves its mandate through community economic development. Over 120 individuals work in several affirmative businesses including Hands on Carwash, Book Ends Café, Contract Factory and Little Green Thumb.

Most associates are employees of the corporation; others are business partners with profit sharing remuneration. All Social Enterprises strive to remove barriers individuals may face, while accessing or participating in the workforce.
